Free concert benefits Toys for Tots In what has become known as a staple of the holiday season in Northeast Louisiana, the Marine Corps Reserve Band from New Orleans will once again journey to Monroe to present their annual free Christmas concert benefiting the Reserve's Toys for Tots charity. This year's Christmas Spectacular is themed "Santa Meets Sousa" and will be held at the Neville High School Auditorium, at 7 p.m. Dec. 5.
"We are so thankful to the Marine Reserve Band for providing this free concert to area residents," said event supporter and Monroe businessman Stu Bashner. "The service they provide our country and the joy they help bring needy children every Christmas is truly inspiring."
The audience will enjoy a fun-filled musical evening featuring well-known holiday selections, as well as rousing patriotic marches. However, it is important to remember that the true goal of the concert is to generate donations of new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, the children's charity began by a group of Marine Reservists over 60 years ago. Since that time Toys for Tots has helped spread the joy and gift of Christmas to a countless number of under privileged children across the United States. ......For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
