Road trip for the Rebels West Monroe to face a tougher Buccaneer squad
With a fierce ground attack and a suffocating defense, the West Monroe Rebels easily defeated the Haughton Buccaneers, 51-19, in the regional round of the LHSAA Class 5A playoffs at Rebel Stadium.
The Rebels' rushing attacked racked up 283 yards while the West Monroe defense limited the potent Haughton passing offense to 142 yards most of which came late in the ball game with the Rebels well ahead.
"On defense, it was a great team effort," West Monroe head coach Don Shows said. "We held their quarterback in check and didn't allow the big plays."
