Louise Bond outdistanced Monroe attorney Alicia Reitzell in Saturday's run-off election for Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court.

According to complete but unofficial returns from the Secretary of State's office, Bond tallied 9,851 votes, or 52.76 percent, to 8,819 votes, or 47.24 percent, for Reitzell.

Bond, a Democrat, has served as interim clerk of court since earlier this year when long-time Clerk of Court Bill Hodge retired.

Reitzell is a Republican.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Smith was easily elected Saturday in the Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor's race.

Smith, a Republican, was in a run-off against former Ouachita Parish Police Juror Paul Hargrove. Hargrove is a Republican, too.

Smith recorded 12,409 votes, or 67.66 percent, to 5,930 votes, or 32.34 percent, for Hargrove.

Smith was endorsed by Tax Assessor Rich Bailey. Bailey chose not to seek re-election.
