Fundraising milestone reached to save 'Nat'

A group that hopes to save an indoor swimming facility at the University of Louisiana-Monroe has reached a significant fundraising milestone, according to an individual involved with the effort.

At a meeting held Tuesday night at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Tom Baker said Friends of the (Lake C. Oxford) Natatorium had secured more than $100,000 in pledges and donations as of earlier this week.

Baker said organizers of the Friends of the Natatorium hope the financial commitment the community has shown will move ULM officials to cancel plans to close the facility.
