Residents in one area of West Monroe will see improved service from the fire department in the near future.

West Monroe Fire Chief Bobby Buchanan said a new fire station on Otis Street will open sometime in March.

"We've needed it for a long time," said Buchanan. "We've never had a station in that part of the city."

The Otis Street station will join the central fire station on Cypress Street and a second fire house on North 5th Street.
