Scenery to improve along DeSiard, Louisville

Traveling along two of Monroe's busiest thoroughfares will be a little more pleasant on the eyes in the near future thanks to a pair of grants from a state program aimed at beautification.

The City of Monroe will receive more than $2.5 million from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

The money will be used to continue aesthetic improvements along stretches of DeSiard Street and Louisville Avenue, according to director of administration David Barnes.

Barnes presented the grants to the Monroe City Council at its regular meeting Tuesday night.
