General election voting begins

Turnout is expected to be light in the Nov. 19 general election, in which voters will have their say in several local races and on a proposed Constitutional amendment.

Meanwhile, early voting for the Nov. 19 election begins Saturday.

With no major issues on the ballot and no statewide offices to drive interest, voters may opt to stay home, according to the Ouachita Parish Registrar of Voters.

"I don't think people will get out for this one as much," said Medaries, who serves as Registrar.

Eligible voters who want to cast early ballots can do so at the office of the Registrar of Voters on St. John Street in Monroe.
