Alexander to host transportation chairman A host of state transportation and infrastructure projects will take center stage when U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander plays host next week to the chairman of a powerful congressional committee.
U.S. Rep. John Mica, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will join Alexander at England Air Industrial Park in Alexandria Tuesday to discuss transportation and infrastructure needs in the 5th congressional district, which Alexander has represented since 2003.
Alexander said one of the chief areas of discussion will be maintaining funding for the Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees navigation on waterways throughout the country. "I want him to be sure he's aware of the problems and needs we have with river and barge traffic," said Alexander, R-Quitman
