In honor of November as National Adoption Month, Louisiana Baptist Children's Home & Family Ministries, 7200 DeSiard St. in Monroe, is hosting a "Celebrate Adoption" reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, to honor all Monroe area families that have finalized adoptions this year, and to increase awareness of the 300 Louisiana children in need of adoptive homes.

This free event is open to the public and anyone interested in learning more about the adoption process is encouraged to attend.

Guest presenter at "Celebrate Adoption" will be Adoption Attorney Terri Hoover Odom. Dr. Perry Hancock, president and C.E.O. of Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, will offer a prayer of blessings for families that have adopted and a prayer of hope for those children still awaiting adoption.

A portrait gallery of Louisiana children currently in need of adoptive families will be on display and information about foster care adoptions and domestic and international adoptions will be available.

Professional photographer Michelle Tripp of Tripptography will take family portraits of those families that have finalized adoptions this year and each adoptive family will receive a complimentary professional family portrait.

Each child of the adoptive families in attendance will also receive a "Celebrate Adoption" toy bear or bunny.

In the United States today, there are over 400,000 children in foster care and over 107,000 of those children are available for adoption but have not adoptive family. In Louisiana, over 4,500 children are in foster care and over 300 of those children are available for adoption and in need of an adoptive family. Join us at "Celebrate Adoption" and find out how you can make a difference in the life of a child.
