Except Schedler, incumbents do well in Ouachita

Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal garnered almost 70 percent of the vote in Ouachita Parish Saturday en route to winning a second term in office.

State-wide, Jindal polled 66 percent of the vote in the Oct. 22 primary, easily avoiding a run-off. Jindal faced nine opponents in the primary.

Roughly 36 percent of the state's registered voters turned out for the primary election. In Ouachita, some 33 percent of the parish's more than 100,000 registered voters went to the polls.

Jindal pulled 23,551 votes in Ouachita in the primary. State-wide, he nailed down 673,120.
In the race for lieutenant governor, incumbent Republican Jay Dardenne easily carried Ouachita Parish with 66 percent of the vote, or 20,688 votes. His challenger, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, a Republican, tallied almost 34 percent of the vote in Ouachita, or 10,567 votes.
