Two former West Monroe Rebels have been honored for their outstanding on the field contributions to the No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers. Recently, the Southeastern Conference named defensive end Barkevious Mingo and offensive lineman Will Blackwell "SEC Players of the Week" at their respective positions.

Mingo was honored with the Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in 45-7 beatdown of Auburn. In the game, Mingo had four tackles, including two sacks totaling 21 yards in losses, and a quarterback hurry. For the season, Mingo leads the Tigers with 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks.

Blackwell was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after the Tigers' dominating victory over Florida in Tiger Stadium. Blackwell played every snap and recorded a team-high 10 knockdowns in LSU's 41-11 win over Florida. He did not allow a sack as the Tigers rolled up 453 total yards against a Florida team was allowing just 258 total yards going into the game.

Blackwell helped pave the way for 100-yard rusher Spencer Ware as the Tigers ran for 238 yards against a Gator defense that was holding opponents to 90 yards on the ground per game.
