Hunting helps keep sale of land tracts booming With the arrival of the Fall, the hunting season begins all over again. The camp has been cleaned, the deer feeders are filled, the guns have been cleaned and the hunt has begun. The younger hunters are full of dreams of finally bagging that long awaited prize, an old buck with a record breaking rack. For the older hunters, it is more the solitude of the moments spent in the woods rather than the kill, or as they are fond of saying, "I just ain't as mad at them as I used to be." Northeast Louisiana ranks 5th in the nation in the number of hunting and fishing licenses sold in any year.
Unlike when many grew up, there are fewer and fewer places to just walk into the woods and enjoy a hunt. It is almost impossible today to hunt without owning land or leasing land on which you can enjoy a hunt except on the public Game Reserves. This explains why more hunters are purchasing their own hunting land. I recently counted the number of land tracts 'For Sale' and found in one week 123 tracts were advertised for sale.
