Obituaries published on October 20, 2011 George W. McDanell Funeral services for Mr. George W. McDanell, 74 of West Monroe, were at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at West Monroe Convention Center Conference Hall. Rev. David Womack, Rev. Daymond Heinrich, and Rev. Timothy Shapley officiated. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. McDanell was born Dec. 6, 1936 in Ouachita Parish and passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in West Monroe. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Walnut Grove Southern Methodist Church. Mr. McDanell was retired from West Monroe Police Department as an Assistant Police Chief with over 30 years of service and was currently employed with West Monroe Marshal's office. He was a 32 degree Mason and served as past Master of Cadeville Lodge. He was a member of Dixie Chapter of Eastern Star and was serving as Worthy Patron. Mr. McDanell was preceded in death by his wives, Louise Bonnett McDanell and Martha Jones McDanell. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Cummings McDanell; children, Judy Correro and husband, Chuck, Ginger Joyner, Todd Cummings and wife, Kim, Tim Cummings and wife, Charlene, and David Cummings and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Bryan Taylor and wife, Susan, Shannon Vidalier and husband, Kelly, Andy Calhoun and wife, Kammy, Jody Calhoun and wife, Morgan, Clay Calhoun and wife, Shalonda, Jacklyn Cummings, Haleigh Malone, Michael Cummings, Brandon Cummings and wife, Ali, Justin Cummings and wife, Sarah, Connor Cummings and Grace Cummings; great-grandchildren, Drake Cummings, Jaycee Cummings, Dakota Taylor, Daniel Taylor, Bailey Taylor, Dustin Vidalier, Devin Vidalier, Dillon Vidalier, Austin Calhoun, Kaleb Calhoun, Thor Calhoun, Trey Calhoun and Gaven Calhoun; sister, Beth Wilson and husband, Jessie, Myrlene Axtell and husband, Bill, Wilma Partrige and husband, Bob; brother, Dale McDanell and wife, Sandra; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Larry Norris, Johnny Bo Mitchell, William Guyton, L.V. Frith, Chris Sasser and Harold Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Art Holomon, Tommy Stroud and Carlton Traweek. Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Walnut Grove Church Building Fund.
Robert "Bob" Wagner Funeral services for Mr. Robert "Bob" Wagner were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at First Baptist Church of West Monroe in the Worship Center. Rev. Dwight Munn and Bro. Johnny Guice officiated. Interment followed at 4 p.m. in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jena under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. Robert "Bob" Cowan Wagner, age 78, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in West Monroe. Bob was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. He was born to Walter and Ivel Cowan Wagner in Kilgore, Texas, on Jan. 4, 1933. His family moved to Jena in 1943, when he was 10 years old, to begin operating The Jena Times newspaper. Bob graduated from Jena High School in 1951 where he played in sports and the band. He then graduated from LSU in 1955. Bob served in the United States Army for three years. He was founder and owner of KCKW/KJNA radio station in Jena and of KPAL radio in Pineville. He worked for Kisatchi-Delta Development district in Alexandria for 32 years where he served as director for nine years. After retirement, he helped promote tourism for the Louisiana Colonial Trails. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Monroe where he played the saxophone for the church Orchestra as well as Twin City Community Band, LA Jazzers, Louisiana Big Band, Cenla Big Band and the Louisiana College Symphonic Band. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid LSU football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ferol Wagner and a nephew, Mike Coleman. Survivors are his wife Sue Beall Wagner; two sons, John Robert Wagner and Todd Gladden Wagner and his wife, Jenell; he was known as "Pops" to his four grandchildren, Tara Wagner, Bethanie Wagner, Emily Wagner, and Kathryn Wagner; three step-children, Dan Magee and his wife, Lisa, Rev. Bobby Magee and his wife, Tracy, Kris Clark and her husband, Jeff; and "Mr. Bob" to his eight step-grandchildren, Scotty Moore, Walker Magee, Paige Clark, Libby Clark, Ben Clark, Caleb Magee, Jordan Magee and Ryan Magee; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers were Roger Beall, Phillip Montgomery, Rip Clements, Sam Scurria, Bob Sasser, Sherry Allen, John Albright and King Scott. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Smith/ Frazier Sunday school class. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of West Monroe Orchestra or the St. Joseph Arts Council. ****************

Interment followed at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was held immediately before the service.
