A new, integrated emergency dispatch system is in the works for the upcoming year if the Ouachita Parish Police Jury approves a proposed budget for the parish 911 system.

"In 2012, our major expenditure will be for computer aided dispatch," said Ouachita 911 Director Craig Lott. "We're researching those systems now."

Lott made his pitch during the Ouachita Parish Police Jury's finance committee meeting Monday night.

Though Ouachita 911 is an independent agency, the Police Jury has oversight and must approve any expenditures in the office.
