Crowded field vies for District 16 seat Samuel Jackson came to Bastrop five years ago because of a family illness.
Today he is among four candidates vying for the state House of Representatives, District 16 seat.
"I saw something unique that I really liked in the Bastrop area," said Jackson, a Republican. "Minus the polarization, I saw it as some place a person could retire."
Jackson is a retired Marine and lived in Los Angeles, Ca., before returning home to care for a relative. He worked as a general contractor while in California.
