Kostelka faces Guerriero in District 35 race State Sen. Bob Kostelka expects to spend a considerable amount of time in the next legislative session focused on tort reform and ending lawsuit abuse.
First, he'll have to get re-elected to the Senate District 35 seat he's held since 2004. Monroe attorney Jeff Guerriero is Kostelka's lone challenger in that Oct. 22 election.
"Right now, we're trying to have more tort reform and curb lawsuit abuse," said Kostelka, a Republican. "The lawsuits keep people out of Louisiana and lead to higher insurance rates." Kostelka called tort reform an important issue and said he would work with legislative colleagues to reduce the number of lawsuits filed in Louisiana.
