Sixth annual CelticFest this weekend in Monroe

The 6th Annual CelticFest celebration will be held in Forsythe Park this Saturday.
The festival is the brainchild of local business owner Doyle Jeter, the proprietor of Enoch's Irish Pub. This year, Jeter said the festival will accomplish exactly what organizers always hoped — highlighting the region's roots in Great Britain and Ireland.

"For us, it's always been about introducing and educating people in our area to our heritage," Jeter said. "This year, more than ever, we have included many ethnic groups in our festival."
This year, the festival will feature crowd favorites such as Beth Patterson, Jimmy Crowley and Needfire.

Jeter said it's easy to see the Celtic influence in the region.

"Look in the phone book, look at a map or drive around town and see the street names and business names that reflect the Celtic influence," Jeter said. "Business names like Murphy's, Kilpatrick's, Mulhearns, Kelly's."
