New airport terminal readies for business
With the opening of a new $36-million airport terminal scheduled for next week, Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo said he's just now taking time to appreciate the accomplishment.
The state-of-the-art terminal is one of the "crowning accomplishments" of his 10-year run as mayor and Mayo said the moment was not lost on him.
"I'm finally starting to reflect on this accomplishment," said Mayo. "It's very emotional because of the hard work and sacrifice that I personally have put into it, along with our council and the chamber and our federal congressional delegation. All of us have worked on it."
