PJ poised to begin Keystone Road project

Ouachita Parish engineer Tom Holtzclaw told the Ouachita Parish Police Jury he expected to be ready to bid the first segment of the Keystone Road project sometime early next year.

Holtzclaw spoke to the Police Jury Monday during its regular meeting.

Keystone Road is in northeastern Ouachita Parish near Sterlington. The three-mile road was badly damaged during the construction of two natural gas pipelines through the area.

Police Jury officials received $410,000 from two pipeline companies to cover any damage they caused to the road surface during construction of pipelines in the area. However, upon inspection engineers determined there was significant deterioration to the road base as well.
That damage was not due to pipeline construction, according to Police Juror Walt Caldwell, who represents the Keystone Road area.
