St. Francis unveils new emergency room

Patients of one area hospital soon will be the recipients of state-of-the-art emergency care courtesy of a local philanthropist.

St. Francis Medical Center officially unveiled the Kitty DeGree Emergency Center at a ribbon cutting and blessing ceremony held at the hospital on Tuesday.

St. Francis CEO Louis Bremer said the $9-million facility will greatly improve emergency services at the hospital.

"This is something that has been in the planning for several years now," said Bremer.
Bremer noted the opening coincided with the Feast of St. Francis Assisi, for whom the Franciscan Missionaries were named.
