Edwin Edwards can still draw a crowd More than 400 people turned out Monday evening for a book signing and reception for former Gov. Edwin Edwards, who regained his freedom earlier this year after serving roughly 8 ½ years in federal prison for his conviction in a riverboat gaming licensing scandal.
Edwards and author Leo Honeycutt were on hand at the Clarion Hotel (formerly the Holidome) to sign copies of Edwin Edwards: Governor of Louisiana. Honeycutt's authorized biography of Edwards was released last year.
Edwards' 32-year-old wife, Trina, to whom he was married over the summer, accompanied him to the book signing and reception as well.
Now 84 years of age, Edwards said he has plans to write another book, focusing on the case that led to his conviction in 2000 and his experiences in federal prison. Edwards did not say when the book would be released. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
