Hopefuls trade barbs The five men jockeying to succeed Sheriff Royce Toney traded barbs over ethics and finances at a debate in West Monroe Wednesday.
The debate was organized by local broadcast stations KTVE-10 and KARD-14. The debate was held at West Monroe Convention Center.
During the hour-long debate, candidates fielded questions from a panel of moderators that included KTVE News 10 anchors Heather Parker and Rudy Williams, and Sam Hanna Jr., publisher of The Ouachita Citizen.
Joe Brady, Cam Douglas, Larry LaBorde, Jay Russell and Ron Schleuter all qualified for the Oct. 22 primary election. Toney declined to seek re-election to a second term in office. The candidates weighed in on subjects ranging from internal departmental politics to ailing finances at Ouachita Correctional Center. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
