Candidates discuss plans for sheriff's office

With two former chiefs of police, a retired state trooper, the current Ouachita Parish chief deputy and a general contractor on the ballot to replace outgoing Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney, voters will have to weigh a host of considerations when they cast their ballots in the Oct. 22 primary election.

The candidates to replace Toney are:

Joe Brady, a general contractor; Cam Douglas, a retired Louisiana State Police trooper; Larry LaBorde, former West Monroe chief of police; Jay Russell, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office chief deputy; and Ron Schleuter, former Monroe police chief.
