Qualifying ends for Oct. 22 elections With a host of state and local offices up for grabs in the Oct. 22 election, political hopefuls and incumbents seeking re-election had until 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 to file the necessary papers to seek office.
Voters will go to the polls next month to select their candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer, commissioner of agriculture and forestry, commissioner of insurance and the District 5 representative for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Locally, voters will pick a state senator for District 32, District 33, District 34, District 35 and a state representative in House districts 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19.
Other local offices that will appear on the Oct 22 ballot include Ouachita Parish Sheriff, Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court, Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor, six seats on the Ouachita Parish Police Jury, Ouachita Parish coroner, Justice of the Peace for Ward 9 and Justice of the Peace for Ward 1. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
