9/11 remembrances planned Local residents have an opportunity to join millions of Americans Sunday as local officials and the public gather to remember the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
At 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, the public is invited to gather at the American Legion Hall, located at 401 Forsythe Ave. in Monroe, for a program that will include local veterans and churches and police, fire and EMT personnel.
Patriotic music and Taps will be played as American flags fly at Half Staff.
