Corps wants PJ to help with maintenance

Budget cuts prompted the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to limit mowing and maintenance along several recreation areas, and now the Ouachita Parish Police Jury is being asked to assist.

During Tuesday's regular Police Jury meeting, Charles Mathis with the Corp of Engineers lobbied the Police Jury for assistance in maintaining Moon Lake Recreation Area.

He said for fiscal year 2012, the Corp of Engineers lost more than half of its funding in its recreation program.
