PJ introduces revenue ordinance Police Jurors opt not to levy tax for Next Autoworks
The Ouachita Parish Police Jury introduced its resolution Tuesday for levying parish property taxes for the 2011 calendar year and for the second consecutive year, the Next Autoworks tax was not among them. The Police Jury is expected to take a final vote on the proposed 2011 revenue ordinance at its next regular meeting. That meeting is scheduled for Sept. 19. The Police Jury can, before adopting the resolution, choose to roll forward, roll back or maintain existing millage rates.
As introduced, the proposed millage rates for 2011 are the same as those levied for 2010.
As introduced, the Police Jury's property millage rates for 2011 include 4.18 mills and 2.09 mills for the Police Jury's general fund; 7.50 mills for the Ouachita Parish Public Library; 0.74 mills for the Ouachita Parish Health Unit; 19.11 mills for the Ouachita Parish Fire Department; 8.51 mills for Ouachita Correctional Center, along with 0.59 mills for major improvements at OCC; 2.65 mills for Green Oaks Detention Center; 1.60 mills for mosquito abatement; and 8 cents per acre on all woodlands for forest protection.
The 2011 ordinance also includes service charges for 42 road lighting districts located within Ouachita Parish. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
