The Ouachita Retired Teachers Association (ORTA) will meet at 2 p.m, Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Carolyn Strauss Council on Aging, 2407 Ferrand St. in Monroe.

State Rep. Kay Katz, has been invited to provide a brief update on the latest legislative action concerning Office of Group Benefits.

Mr. Larry Foreman, Director of Special Collections and Genealogy, will bring some cheer and historical culture with his presentation of "Downtown Monroe Walking Tour."  This video was compiled by himself and Lori Peppers. Of special interest to teachers will be the old snapshots of some of the first schools in Monroe.

Please note that you do not have to be a retired teacher to attend. Many guests, friends, and associates come because of their interest, parent, or spouse.

The meeting is free and refreshments are provided.
