Rebels work toward victory

The West Monroe Rebels look to erase the memory of their first 0-1 start since 2005 when they travel to Shreveport to play Calvary Baptist Academy Saturday in Shreveport.

The Rebels lost to Byrd High School of Shreveport, 30-23, last Thursday. The loss was the first for a WMHS team since opening the year with a loss to Longview, Texas, in 2005.

West Monroe drew first blood with a two-yard touchdown run by Bubba Reeves to open the game. Byrd answered moments later with a touchdown pass off the arm of senior quarterback Richard Carthon to tie the game at 7-7.
