Pine Cone tournament scores big The 36th Annual Pine Cone Invitational Golf Classic wrapped up Monday with pairs of local golfers vying for the top prize at a tournament that has become a local staple Ouachita Parish during Labor Day weekend.
"The Pine Cone has been going on since 1976," Pine Hills General Manager Chuck Brazzeal said. "It has continued to grow and is, to me, one of the most competitive golf tournaments in the area. The duo of Frank Maxwell and Johnny Futch won the championship flight, topping Steve North and Wyatt Boyett by five strokes. The North-Boyett team stayed just two strokes behind on both of the final two rounds of play.
