Qualifying next week for fall elections

Qualifying for the Oct. 22 primary election, which includes statewide races as well as local races, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6 through Thursday, Sept. 8.

Locally, qualifying will be held each day from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court's office at the parish courthouse in Monroe.

Qualifying for statewide elections is held at the Secretary of State's office in Baton Rouge.
Voters in Ouachita will go to the polls Saturday, Oct. 22 to vote on candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer, commissioner of agriculture and forestry, commissioner of insurance and the District 5 representative for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Also, voters in Ouachita will choose a candidate for Senate District 33, Senate District 34, Senate District 35 and House Districts 14, 15, 16 and 17.
