Jury finds Monroe man guilty in 2010 slaying

A Ouachita Parish jury on Monday unanimously found Daniel Frank Guess Jr., 20, of Monroe, guilty of second degree murder in the January 2010 shooting death of Alton "Buster" Porter.

Porter's death was the first homicide investigated by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office in 2010.
On Jan. 20, 2010, Porter's body was discovered by family members. He had died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Guess was arrested after a witness told investigators that Guess claimed he shot someone.
The investigation reveled that Guess made several inculpatory statements to different witnesses, according to sheriff's investigators.
