2011 has been a long, eventful summer of twists and turns for the Louisiana State University Tiger football team. Preseason ranked No. 5 in the nation and picked to compete win for win with Alabama for the SEC West Division championship, LSU has had it's own share of problems too.

The NCAA committee on infractions slapped LSU with a one year probation after finding improper recruiting of a junior college player by former LSU assistant wide receivers coach D.J. McCarthy. LSU did not receive a scholarship reduction or fine for the violations.

Then in July, new offensive coordinator Steve Kragthorpe announcee he would step down as coordinator after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
