The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will pay $12,000 to have its engineer spend the next three months updating drainage and flood control projects throughout the parish.

For the past several months, Police Juror Pat Moore has pressed the Police Jury to begin the process of updating its drainage and flood control projects in order for the parish to establish a comprehensive drainage plan.

Parish engineer Tom Holtzclaw has provided the Police Jury with his preliminary review of ongoing drainage projects as well as those that need to be tackled to improve drainage issues throughout Ouachita.

In all, there are about 60 proposed projects to improve drainage and tackle flooding issues in Ouachita that were estimated to cost $85 million in 2005. That's the year the list of projects were last updated.
