Using Joseph's life for discernment

This is not a column about religion, but it is hard for me to write without using the subjects from the Bible as topics. What rules about living can I peruse from the scriptures? The stories that I gleaned from the Bible are not written for the theologian, but for people like me who have searched many books for a foundation for life. But after many years of study, I have always returned to the Bible for truth and substance.

The story of Joseph is a paradigm for revealing what character is required to live life to its fullest. As we all do when we are young, we have dreams for the future. But as many of us do, we do not accomplish the desires of our heart. Many experiences in life become dream killers. We become discouraged and sometimes even disillusioned, and we give up on our dreams. The studying of the life of Joseph is a revealing description of overcoming obstacles when life does not make sense

Chapters 37 through 50 in Genesis, reveal God's hand in every aspect of Joseph's life. Verse 20 of chapter 50 is the theme of this story. "But as for you, ye thought evil against me, but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." Yes, good things can come out of bad things.
