Friends and colleagues of West Monroe Alderman L.O. "Sam" Yeager remember him as a loyal public servant who loved his city.

Yeager died early Monday following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 83.

His funeral was held Wednesday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.

Yeager was appointed to the West Monroe Board of Aldermen in 1967 when Bert Hatten served as mayor. Yeager was appointed to succeed Alderman Roland Mix, who died in office.
