Facility evolves with time

The former A.L. Smith Elementary School facility in Sterlington has been through many changes since it first opened in 1960.

For years, it was a high school. Then it became A.L. Smith.

This week, students walked through the school's doors to begin a new era as the former high school and elementary school now serves as Sterlington's new middle school.

Ouachita Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber took The Ouachita Citizen on a tour of the school late last week. He outlined the $1.8 million in renovations that will take place at the school over the next year to make it more suitable for middle school students.
