Consultant to review prison operations

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will utilize a consultant from the National Institute of Corrections at no cost to the parish to determine how to improve operations at the Ouachita Correctional Center.

The National Institute of Corrections is a group affiliated with the U.S. Department of Justice. It will provide the Police Jury with a consultant free of charge.

According to Police Juror Charles Jackson, the National Institute of Corrections provides consultants to prisons when they request assistance.

"They make a list of consultants available so we can find one whose schedule works best with ours," Jackson said. "They actually pay for the consultant to come in and perform the operational assessment."
