Parish tax assessor announces retirement

Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor Rich Bailey announced Monday he will retire at the end of his current term after serving in the Tax Assessor's Office for the past 38 years.

Bailey has served as the Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor for 33 years.

"I am announcing today (Monday) that I will not seek re-election for another term," Bailey said. "I thank the people of Ouachita Parish for electing me to eight terms of office. Four of those terms were without opposition."

"As it has been said by everyone announcing their retirement, 'I want to spend more time with the family and do some things that I've always wanted to do,' " he said.
