Smith vies to succeed Bailey Stephanie Smith, deputy assessor with the Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor's office, announced Monday that she will be a candidate in the fall elections to succeed Rich Bailey.
Bailey announced Monday as well that he won't seek another term as Tax Assessor in Ouachita. He has held the position for the past 33 years.
Bailey also declared his support for Smith's candidacy in a prepared news release issued to local media.
