Officials celebrate Gardner Denver's growth

Gov. Bobby Jindal joined Gardner Denver Thomas officials Monday to announce the company now employs more than the 250 people at its plant in Monroe.

Assisted with financial incentives provided by the state and city of Monroe, Gardner Denver Thomas agreed in April 2009 to shut down its Sheboygan, Wis., facility and consolidate it operations in Monroe.

"Today, we mark GDT passing a 250-job milestone, after years of economic hardship and plant closures in this area," Jindal said. "We are proud to say that only in Louisiana did Gardner Denver Thomas choose to expand and create hundreds of jobs over other locations."
