Exhibits, live entertainment and Louisiana food were crowd favorites at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum on Saturday, Aug. 13, when National Aviation Day was celebrated with a slate of family activities.

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo and Monroe Regional Airport manager Cleve Norrell each commented on the historic importance of aviation in the area before turning to the future as a new terminal building nears completion.

"We will be ready to open the terminal in December," the mayor emphasized to the crowd's approving applause.

Lisa Lee and Baylee Regan sang popular tunes as the crowd of 150 enjoyed jambalaya prepared by Billy Gates and pulled pork sandwiches prepared by Norrell.
