Sewer district gets approval for $1.9M project

West Ouachita Sewer District No. 5 officials will issue $1.9 million in sewer revenue bonds for infrastructure improvements throughout the district's sewer system.

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury gave the sewer district authority to issue the sewer revenue bonds during Monday's regular meeting.

The Police Jury created West Ouachita Sewer District No. 5 and has authority over the sewer district. The sewer district is governed by its own board of directors and operates on its own sources of funding.

According to engineer Jerry Lazenby of Lazenby & Associates, the infrastructure improvement project calls for West Ouachita Sewer District No. 5 to replace force main pipes at a number of locations throughout the district.
