City applies for grant

The city of West Monroe plans to apply for roughly $600,000 in grant funding from the Louisiana Department of Transportation to provide more sidewalks along the Cypress Street area.

The Board of Aldermen gave approval for city engineer Robbie George to make the application to DOTD during Tuesday's regular Board of Aldermen meeting.

According to George, the city would be required to provide a 5 percent match if the city is awarded the state grant.
