Teachers prepare for students' arrival

Teachers were busy preparing their classrooms at Woodlawn School in western Ouachita Parish this week — gearing up for the sight of hundreds of little children pouring through the hallways when school officially begins next week.

Many of the teachers got a jump start in preparing for the new school year, coming in as early as July to ready their classrooms and curriculum.

Gina Allen was one of those Woodlawn School teachers who decided to come in during July to get a head start.

Allen will teach third grade for the first time this year. She has spent several years serving as a first-grade teacher at Woodlawn School.
