Residents voice concerns over canal

Ouachita Parish Police Juror Mack Calhoun says his phone has been ringing off the hook with several District B residents concerned about flooding issues in their area.

One of the main areas where flooding has routinely occurred over the past several years is in areas along the T-1A canal in western Ouachita Parish.

For the past several months, Calhoun has inquired about an ongoing project to improve drainage along the T-1A canal.

The parish plans to use some $3.7 million in disaster recovery money for several drainage improvement projects throughout the parish. The T-1A canal is just one of three canal projects the Police Jury will tackle with the $3.7 million in grant funding.
