Locals earn softball awards
A pair of Ouachita Parish youth softball teams recently advanced to the state tournament in Alexandria. East Ouachita put a Belles League team into the state championship tournament for the first time in more than 30 years.
The East Ouachita Belles team earned the Sportsmanship Award while competing in the state tournament.
East Ouachita's Belles earned a spot in the state tournament with its second-place finish at district. East Ouachita defeated Delhi and Mangham before falling to Winnsboro in the championship game.
