The Ouachita Parish Public Library wrapped up its Summer Reading/River Reads event Saturday, exceeding its goal of 10,000 pages read in two hours.

Dozens of participants flocked to the libraries and read 32,096 pages during the two-hour timeframe.

Library director Robin Toms said she hoped for a great turnout Saturday, but she wasn't sure what to expect. With the library far exceeding its Summer Reading goal this year, Toms said library officials were excited to host the event again next
summer.
