"Read Strong" – The Ouachita Parish Public Library's Summer Reading/River Reads final event will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at various library branches.

"Read Strong" is a come-and-go event where people of all ages are invited to stop by any library branch and silently read a few pages to help the library reach its parish-wide goal of reading 10,000 pages in two hours. "With temperatures soaring and the heat index rising, people are looking for a cool place to escape from the heat. On Saturday, July 30th, the Ouachita Parish Public Library will be that cool place hosting an even "cooler" event," said Larry Foreman with Ouachita Parish Public Library.

"Read Strong" is the library's end of Summer Reading celebration. People of all ages are invited to stop by any branch of the library, silently read a few pages of any book or magazine and tell the library staff how many pages they read to help the library system reach its parish-wide goal of reading over 10,000 pages in just two hours.
