Truly this summer of 2011 has been the "long, hot summer." The rain and thunder of a few days ago just reminds us of the power of the Lord. That we may know the Lord and have a personal relationship with HIM is the essential thing for us ...our personal relationship with Jesus the Christ! We are studying Philippians at First West. The Word says when we only pray for things for ourselves, the relationship with Christ is off balance...not what it should be.
Sometimes we are only concerned with what He has done for us and not really interested in knowing Him through a relationship...the best friend kind! When we are insulted or hurt, we must not only forget it and not be resentful but we must take the opportunity to exhibit what the Christ means in our lives. As believers we must remember that our responses reflect the status of the Lord in our lives, and it is the Lord's honor at stake, not our honor.
We should never judge other people; however, we should never quit trying to make right choices for our lives. Many times we are looking for justice; yet, the teaching from the Sermon on the Mount is...never look for justice for ourselves, but never cease to give it to others. God makes us pure in heart not by our works, but by an act of His grace...His gift to us.
